Being a Young Adult now is a completely different ball game! I LIVE IT AND SEE IT everyday with my own two girls... It can be so confined and overwhelming at times. There are so many pressures now, that just didn't exist when I was growing up in the 1970's/80's. (My children would probably argue that I am still growing up!)
Having an opportunity to just let your mind go, and explore your own headspace, in a way that allows absolute freedom of expression, is essential to finding out who you are, CREATING your AUTHENTIC IDENTITY and discovering your PURPOSE! Not Everyone Learns In The Same Way...
Honesty is the best policy...
We all know that we are different, after all that is what makes us all so beautiful in our own right. Therefore we are not all going to learn in the same way. What works for one, may not work for another. Yes, there are 4 predominant learning styles: Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, and Kinaesthetic. However, within the school environment you have such enormous pupil numbers, trying to reach everyone is tough. Especially when you are presented with other factors such as ADHD, AUTISM, ODD and so on and so forth...
But being the Student in the class who isn't getting it, is EVEN TOUGHER! Especially when it is class after class after class.
I want you to take a moment to put yourself in that head space right now as you are reading this. Day in day out, term after term, being that Student, HOW ARE YOU FEELING?
Now add in other factors, lets take for example, that the subject, whatever it might be? is something you are not genetically or mentally created or gifted to connect with or use. Because your purpose is aligned with other gifts or talents that you have!
What does that pressure feel like? WHEN DO YOU GET TO SHINE? WHEN DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU MATTER? WHEN DO YOU GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO FEEL YOUR WORTH? KNOW YOUR VALUE?
Not Everyone Communicates In The Same Way...
Just as not everyone learns the same way, not everyone communicates in the same way...
It can be really difficult sometimes even as an adult, to express exactly how you are feeling, in exactly the right way so that you are heard and UNDERSTOOD.
Consider This:
When you are a Young Adult/Student and you are growing learning and developing all these skills - where does it all go whilst you are desperately trying to master the art?
You internalise it ALL and the FEELINGS that go with it!
Some of us are blessed with being really confident communicators and have an ease to express exactly how we are feeling at any given time. For some unless you have the right outlet... You are like a ticking emotional time bomb just waiting to go off.
If you are a Student reading the above statement? Keeping it together can be SO HARD. Especially when you re in an environment like School where there is the other additional pressures and NO OPPORTUNITY to express yourself freely, safely, open up and LET IT ALL OUT without saying a word if you don't want to?
How on earth is it possible to... FIND YOURSELF? HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW YOU HAVE? AND THEN EXCEL?
If you are a Educator/Teacher reading this then you may have been on occasions on the receiving end of that bomb being detonated? That is no fun either that's a certainty...
Especially, when you combine the weight of your professional responsibility to ensure you bring your Students back on track. Couple this with, the pressure of having to make certain, they are also achieving. And to "The Standard" and expectations YOU, are governed by. Then the reality is UNDENIABLY OBVIOUS.
Reading this I am sure you are nodding your head and it is ALL starting to make sense.
And this is one of THE BIGGEST contributing factors as to whether any individual achieves their FULLEST POTENTIAL. IT IS a VITAL element in the creative process of life... IF YOU CANNOT EXPRESS YOURSELF, THEN THERE ARE NO QUESTIONS, WITHOUT QUESTIONS THERE ARE NO ANSWERS AND IF THERE ARE NO ANSWERS THEN THERE IS NO SELF DISCOVERY... WITH NO SELF DISCOVERY... THEN THERE IS NO AUTHENTIC IDENTITY!

EVERYONE once YOU ARE FREE TO EXPRESS YOURSELF, IS ABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR TO THEIR OWN PERSONAL PATHWAY TO SUCCESS... It's just a question of finding the right shape key, that turns the lock in order to discover your own AUTHENTIC IDENTITY.
EVERY STUDENT deserves the opportunity to FULLY and TRULY EXPOLRE and DISCOVER who they are?
